Do you choose the right bin?

Independent research conducted for Planet Ark by Pollinate, reveals almost 50 percent of people incorrectly dispose of used printer cartridges.

The study shows 33 percent of people throw their cartridges into the general waste bin and a further 14 percent place them in their council provided recycling bin.

"Not only is it alarming that one in three people send their cartridges straight to landfill, it's concerning to find people are contaminating their household recycling," says Planet Ark's Campaigns Manager Brad Gray.

Due to their complexity, printer cartridges need to be recycled separately to everyday household recyclables. If printer cartridges are placed with these items it causes contamination and reduces the effectiveness of the entire recycling process.

Placing used cartridges into a 'Cartridges 4 Planet Ark' bin ensures these complex items are either reused or recycled.
